I got to watch the last performance of On the Razzle , I am really happy I got to see the production and
it was really nice to see the last one as it brought the entire production to
an end and I was able to sit back and enjoy the performance. I have loved
working on this production and the though brining it all together this last
week has been hard work it has also been a lot of fun. I am looking forward to
working with acting and make up again on future productions as putting a show
together as a team is really rewarding.

Dress Rehearsal and Opening Night
The day started with alterations of several costumes, I took
in Peter’s waiters waistcoat and ragamuffin shorts as well as lowering
Christopher’s trousers at the back. I also helped with pressing and prepping
for the show. The dress rehearsal went smoothly and all our quick changes went
well. I help with several different quick changes in the corridor and backstage
I stitch Zangler’s sleeve back onto his military jacket after it has been
pulled off. After the rehearsal we got all the actors out of costumes,
fabreezed all the shirts and tumble dyed them, went through any notes on
remaining changes and completed them, ironed the shirts and prepped the rails
for the opening show. This was very busy and but we worked as a team and
managed to get the majority of alterations completed before we got the actors
back into costume. The show went well and we were all now happy with the
routine of the production. After the show we tidied up and prepped the costumes
for the next day.
I feel that everything is going well and it is really nice
to be working on a live production and interacting with the actors. I am
learning lots throughout this production and I like the fact that I have made
for it then dressed. I am really looking forward to seeing a run of the
production now to see how it has all come together.

Technical Rehearsal
I missed the first Tech rehearsal but today I started
helping as a dresser on the second tech rehearsal. This was very busy as we
were trying to figure out the costumes changes and timings, this was made
slightly harder as I had missed the previous tech rehearsal when everybody else
had got to know the costumes and the changes. I fell confident for the dress
rehearsal tomorrow as there were no major issues.

Assessment Tutorial
I had my assessment tutorial with Graham and Mandy, here it
was noticed that my right (if you look at the jacket from the back) sleeve had
not been put in strait. After my assessment I took the sleeve out, straitened
it up then re-attached it. I was also told my fine finishing stitches are too
heavy especially on the collar. If I have time during production week I shall
try and re-do this. The assessment presentation overall went really well and I
am pleased with all the feedback I received and I will take this into EMP where
I hope continue with tailoring.
Notes for EMP
- Look at original suits to get references on period details
- Make openings on the cuffs
- Really focus on the pad stitching on the lapel and collar
- Be carful on finishing techniques
Dress Parade
For the dress parade each actor was put into costumes and
then looked at by the designer, director, supervisor, make up and our tutors.
They made sure each costume was correct and represented by the design. The only
changes to my costume were the buttons on the waistcoat needed straitening. I
am really pleased with this and I feel that I got really good feedback from the
dress parade. As I am dressing on the production the dress parade was a good
time to see how the costumes all worked together and get to know the other
actors and see their costumes.

Final Week - Evaluation
The final week of this project has been very busy, not only
have I had to complete my suit but I have also had to finish my workbook, keep
this Blog updated and work on my Investigative Study for a tutorial which was
on the 30th. As my Production is after hand in I have been given an extension
as I would not be able to write about costume parade, dress rehearsals and the production.
This is really helpful and I have been able to focus on finishing the costume
over the theory work, however I have worked hard to try and complete all
aspects of the work. I am really pleased with how the costume has turned out
and I feel that it reflects the design. I am really looking forward to the
costume parade on Monday and I hope that there are no last minute changes. All I
have left to do on the garment is put the buttons and button hols onto the jacket
and this will be done after the costume parade as I want to note where they are
and make sure they are put on in the correct position.
